St. John needs Honest Joe's tip on Iran & al-Qaeda

Senator Obama's former pastor making some controversial remarks are I'm sure more important but Matthew Yglesais telling us that Senator McCain tried to connect Iran with al-Qaeda seems like it ought to get at least a little attention on the tee-vee. Matthew is building off A McCain Gaffe in Jordan from Cameron W. Barr and Michael D. Shear in the WaPo. Think Progress has more on the candidate that is pretty much running exclusively on his national security chops. Matthew's got him nailed with, "He's very sure that the surge is working, but doesn't understand the basic contours of the ongoing conflicts in Iraq?" Of course there's also some dispute about just how much Iran is actually helping but if they are then it's certainly not for a Sunni group. John Gunn
