Let's not forget the lawyers on PCS inquiry on high collect charges from jail/prison phones

I applaud The B'ham News praising the Alabama Public Service Commission for making inquiries into the dreadfully high collect call rates for calls from Alabama jails and prisons. The income realized from the calls is significant. That families wind up paying them is true yet the B'ham News failed to mention that criminal defense lawyers, whether retained or doing indigent work, also get their share of these calls. Back in the day, I surely helped the Sheriff's offices out! Also, that the B'ham News admits "Alabama's Public Service Commission is seldom accused of being overly consumer-oriented" is another positive. John Gunn
