The Leader - Two Truths But There's More

Heading to The Randolph Leader for the most recent version of the Cirque de Spec, with full credit going to Miss Frances for the contruct and knowing she's hardly a fan of the "ringmaster", I find The Leader lamenting a voice vote on a pay raise for Alabama legislators, which I do agree should have ideally been done "on the record". However, I certainly think LTE contributor Barbara Evans is correct in the fact that a pay raise might allow folks that are less financially blessed to serve up on Goat Hill.

I'd add that some type of public financing of campaigns would further help hem up the Big Mules. PAC to PAC changes plus other ethics/lobbying reforms would be another step. Trashing that dreadful 1901 Constitution is yet another crucial reform.

Certainly the mess that the City of Roanoke and ALCOTE have wrought is demonstrative of the need to have good folks in office. I'm not sure what Roanoke is paying their "leaders" but one wonders even if a trifle if her citizens are getting much bang for the buck. At least we've got a new jail/spaceport and lots of drug busts to celebrate. Peace ... or War!
