Nearly 50 years in east Alabama, a surname going back to Vikings invading Scotland, and finally too much religious fundamentalism coupled to reactionary radicalism motivates me. I'll share (rarely as of late) my ideas on politics, learning, ... My clan supposedly uses "Peace ... or War!" Maybe those genes compel me to join issue? (Propservralism = PRogressivism + pOPulism + conSERVatism + libeRAL + pragmatISM) Respectfully, John Gunn

Republican Noise Machine hums along in Bama
I've read David Brock's The Republican Noise Machine yet I knew Rupert Murdoch's and Roger Ailes' Faux News and L. Brent Bozell', III's Newsbusters (part of the well funded Media Research Center, Inc. effort) were hardly serious sources of information long before. To read LTEs in the Opelika-Auburn News from Carl S. Gagliano and Regina S, Battle surprises me not. Consider the sources. Among the several things that Carl gets wrong is his claim Senator Obama was trained by ACORN. Regina blames Bill Clnton for today's economic mess with the following being the money quote, " It takes a while for any of these policies to take hold, and what we’re seeing now is a direct result of policies set in place by Clinton." These two are likely not as educated as Chuckles the Stenography Clown yet all three are being fooled and then eagerly transmitting the false information they are being fed. John Gunn
