The college system paid Heritage to Hope, a Birmingham nonprofit, more than $310,000 from February 2004 through September 2006 to operate a computer-based tutoring program that helped 13 people complete at least one level of training, according to system records. The program, canceled last year, was supposed to recruit high-school dropouts for training that would help them acquire a GED, a high-school equivalency certificate.Good grief! I've previously scolded E.B. and Ken Guin over in the house before for doing such a dreadful job with the Democratic Party yet now note they've both been doing just fine at banking the funds. Ken after all was making about a hundred grand per year for two JuCos doing essentially nothing. I'll not hold my breath over any consequences to E.B. within the party yet I can at least hope. Peace ... or War!
Nearly 50 years in east Alabama, a surname going back to Vikings invading Scotland, and finally too much religious fundamentalism coupled to reactionary radicalism motivates me. I'll share (rarely as of late) my ideas on politics, learning, ... My clan supposedly uses "Peace ... or War!" Maybe those genes compel me to join issue? (Propservralism = PRogressivism + pOPulism + conSERVatism + libeRAL + pragmatISM) Respectfully, John Gunn

Sam Pettagrue, the retired pastor of Sardis Baptist Church. The good Reverend is creator of the nonprofit Heritage to Hope. Add Pettagrue's son to the mix as well. Of course none had any experience in adult education. Here's the bottom line:
